Draft UK process

Use short lawful extracts—not a copied library.

This candidate explains the intended ownership, limited processing and rights-holder route for a future real-image scanner. That scanner is not open.

Draft candidate—pending qualified UK review.

UK copyright advice must approve the final pupil-material permission, notice process, evidence retention, counter-review and remedies. This is not a US DMCA policy and does not claim that a real upload or takedown operation is live. This text is not an approved account, subscription, privacy, cancellation, acceptable-use, copyright, complaints, safety or security policy, is not legal advice and is not accepted anywhere in the current service. Parent accounts, paid pupil profiles, checkout, real uploads and pupil-facing AI remain closed. See the legal and trust status for the documents that apply to today's public preview.

Current public service

The current scan-to-revise demonstration uses one original fictional page supplied by How2Revise. It accepts no pupil file, performs no OCR and sends no schoolwork to an AI provider. The manual Reset asks pupils to keep material beside them. A copyright concern about current public content can use the route below.

How2Revise material

Unless a page says otherwise, the How2Revise branding, design and original written and visual material are owned by or licensed to ECOMMERCE ONLINE LTD. Visitors may use the current public content for lawful personal, family and reasonable classroom revision support. They may link to it and use limited extracts where the law permits. They may not copy a substantial part into another product, paid resource or dataset without permission.

Future pupil material

A pupil would retain any rights they have in material they are entitled to provide. The final account terms may give How2Revise only the narrow, non-exclusive and time-limited permission needed to receive, protect, classify and delete one short extract for the requested revision route. It would not transfer ownership, permit publication or allow general model training.

The adult and pupil would need the right to use the extract. They must not provide a whole textbook, workbook, exam paper, mark scheme, paid resource, confidential school document, unreleased assessment, another person's work or unnecessary personal information. A small extract is not automatically lawful merely because it is small; the final notice must avoid giving individual legal advice or promising that every educational use is fair dealing.

Processing and deletion boundary

The proposed scanner would process one protected derivative briefly, remove image metadata, avoid a full OCR transcript and delete the image on the approved short schedule. It would not create a public gallery, searchable content library or reusable training corpus. The exact provider retention and backup deletion position is not approved, so real uploads remain disabled.

What a rights-holder notice should contain

  • the protected work and the right claimed;
  • the How2Revise page, feature or location concerned;
  • why the use is believed to be unauthorised;
  • a safe contact route for a response;
  • a good-faith statement that the information is accurate; and
  • authority to act if the notice is sent for another rights holder.

Do not send an entire protected work, identity document or unrelated personal information unless it is genuinely necessary and lawful. A link, title, page reference and short comparison will often be enough to begin an assessment.

Proposed assessment process

  1. Acknowledge the notice and restrict it to authorised legal/support staff.
  2. Temporarily restrict the identified content or feature when proportionate to the apparent risk.
  3. Check ownership, licence, statutory exceptions, context and the actual material rather than removing content automatically.
  4. Invite a concise response or counter-review from the affected adult where fair and safe.
  5. Record the reasoned outcome, remove or restore material as appropriate and notify the parties.
  6. Keep only the evidence needed for the approved legal and complaint-retention period.

Repeated or systemic infringement could lead to a proportionate feature or account restriction, with human appeal. The response must consider child best interests and consumer rights and must not withhold privacy, safety or complaint help.

Send a current public-content notice

The legal address is delivery-tested, but monitored human handling is not yet verified, so the public email route remains closed. Send a written notice to ECOMMERCE ONLINE LTD, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, United Kingdom, WC1N 3AX, marked “Copyright”. Include the public page address and only the minimum information listed above.

Approval still required

Qualified review must settle the processing licence, assessed-work restrictions, legal bases, evidence schedule, temporary restriction, counter-review, repeat-infringement response and remedies. This candidate has no effective date. It is not a statement that How2Revise operates under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
